What in the World is Curry

Curry is a stew made with meat or vegetables cooked in an Indian-style sauce with spices and typically served with rice. Curry leaves (not used at our cafe) come from a small tree used fresh or dry in primarily south Indian cooking. Curry powder is most likely a British invention to bring the flavors of India to the UK. Curry is not a hot spice or necessarily yellow in color. The hot spicy flavor is produced by adding chili powder or chilies and the yellow color

comes from the spice turmeric.
